Ice Skating at Cedarena 7:30 pm

Cedarena is an old-fashioned outdoor ice rink nestled amongst cedar trees on the banks of the Rouge River in Markham, Ontario. It is operated by the Cedar Grove Community Club and open to the public for skating.

Meet in the Cancelledparking lot at 7:30 p.m. or if you choose to arrive later join us on the rink.

$5.00 Entrance Fee will be charged at the door.

Located on Reesor Road, 1 km north of Steeles Avenue and 3 km south of Hwy #7. The entrance to the parking lot is on the east side of Reesor Road, directly opposite Rouge Valley Mennonite Church.

Sixteen Mile Creek Oakville 10:00 am.

+/- 9 km. Meet for a 10:00 am. start in the southeast parking lot at the corner of Neyagawa Dr. and River Glen Blvd. in Oakville. We will do a loop hike of the beautiful trails of the Sixteen Mile Creek Valley. Mod - 3. Bring a snack and icers. Optional lunch stop afterwards.

Snowshoe Hike – Fleetwood Creek Natural Area 

From Highway 35, turn east onto Ballyduff Road for 2.9 km. Parking on side of the road or in parking lot if plowed.

Three trails are available. We will follow the 2.2 km Valley Trail which leads to an observation platform then down into the valley and looping back to the start. We will proceed at an enjoyable pace. Some steep sections.

Two other trails of 2.5 km and 3 km are available for our pleasure if time and interest permits.

Bring lunch. I will be making hot chocolate at lunch, please bring water to be heated and a cup. I will supply stove and the hot chocolate mix.

Carpooling from Oshawa (call for details), leaving Oshawa at 8 a.m. Enjoy 36 km of groomed cross-country trails in the Peterborough Crown Game Preserve, 40 minutes east of Peterborough on Highway 28. Pack a lunch and a hot drink. A day trail pass is $15. Possibly stopping on the way home for dinner.

From Taunton Rd., go east past Hampton and South on Ochanski Rd to the parking lot at the intersection of Ochanski and Station St.
Bring a snack, water and bird seed for the feeding station.  Icers are necessary as the trails are icy.

12 km. Meet for a 10:00 am. start at Trafalgar Ridge Plaza, 2431 Trafalgar Rd. Look for Home Sense/Winners. Park near the Scotia Bank, facing Trafalgar Rd. This hike takes in two of Oakville’s finest creek ravines. 9km. of trails, 3 km. of footpaths and 4 ponds. Mostly level, only a couple of short, steep hills. Mod-3. Bring snacks. Optional refreshment stop afterwards.

8/10 km Meet for a 10:00 am. start in the upper parking lot of Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area on Appleby Line, north of Derry Rd. We will do a loop hike of the Conservation Area trails. (8 km.) If there is not too much snow we will go to the Interpretive Centre at Crawford Lake as well.(10 km.) Mod -5. Map 11. Bring a lunch and icers. Parking fee in effect or Conservation Area pass.

Phil Cotton from the Wabakimi Project states the adopted mission of The Wabakimi Project is "to promote the Wabakimi area as a world-class wilderness canoeing destination", this year's presentations will focus on the northern waterways of the Wabakimi wilderness area such as the Albany and Misehkow Rivers. It will also include information about self-directed canoeing opportunities in the Wabakimi area and how to participate in The Wabakimi Project.

Leave Saturday morning at 8:00am from the Country Style Donuts in Manchester (Hwy 12 & 7A ) for arrival at Algonquin West Gate at 11:00 am to pick up permits. Continue to Mew Lake Campground where we will leave our cars and hike to a nearby site to camp. Mew Lake has a heated washroom with running hot and cold water - not drinkable.

Come enjoy a late night hike under the stars and talk around the fire. Must be prepared for cold weather.
